Twelve Calendar

Berlin Fashion Week is starting today, so i suppose we are all anticipating for the great avant-garde capital city to reveal its new gems for next winter. One of the week's hottest projects is the Twelve Calendar, a collaboration between Derzeit Magazine and photographer Lena Emery, showcasing 12 of the best new models and labels from Berlin.

Born Sleepy by J.W. Anderson

J.W. Anderson's menswear collection for next fall is called Born Sleepy, and has big retro vibe with amazing knits, graphic prints, flared pants made out of tech materials and a bright colour palette. I just love the brand's spooky, ironic campaign, shot by Alex Sainsbury, featuring model Oliver Greenall from Elite London.

Milan's Men Fashion Week is ending today. Have a look at its coolest boys posing for Luca Finotti's camera during the castings.

The Empire of Death

For three years Dr Paul Koudounaris, a specialist in Baroque culture and lector at major universities in Los Angeles, travelled the world to document various religious shrines decorated with human bones, crypts and remains from the sixteenth and seventienth centuries.

Since backstage films are always exciting and we all love them, i'm posting this nice and really well-made short behind-the-scenes film from Gaspard Yurkievich's S/S 2012 show. Featuring Ford's Andie Arthur and Adrien Sahores.

Vionnet is taking a magical trip to an enchanting garden, full of dreamy creations. Femininity takes over with luxurious outfits and a bright colour palette. Dazzling prints of stars, ladybirds, butterflies and blossoms are the protagonists in this beautiful fairytale with the famous Vionnet-draping giving an almost sculptural result.

Dresses are ruling in the collection, from coctail pieces to floor-lenght gowns, all with crystal, gemstone, pearl and sequin detailing. The materials were absolutely stunning with a wide selection of lame satin, silk crepon, tulle, georgette, chiffon and silk jersey, all in fresh colours of hot pink, lemon, midnight or light  blue, pistacchio, ivory and grey.

The House did it again.

Sexy is becoming sophisticated in Juan Carlos Obando's collection for next season. Like many other designers, his inspiration came from great stars of the past like Rita Hayworth, Yma Sumak and Josephine Baker with ultra-feminine dresses, complicated pleats, luxurious fabrics and bright colours. Definitely the best fashion show background so far.

For his s/s collection Felipe Oliveira Baptista plays with proportions in a kaleidoscopic game of construction and deconstruction, titled Sky Dive. Inspired by mens wardrobe, military-wear, work-wear and sportswear, he tells the story of how experimental projects can become great, wearable outfits.

Fluid silhouettes, parachute dresses, shorts, versatile jackets and one piece jumpsuits were the main keys of the collection, with multiple zippers and openings that left parts of the body uncovered, all made by flexible materials, double-faced fabrics and transparent opaque knitwear.

The choice for the colour palette was mostly bright with acid pastels, pink, plum and gold, while white was tinted with pale blue, green and grey.

As a shoe lover, i would definitely vote the men's laced studded shoes as a hot buy!

For the summer collection of Rochas, Creative Director Marco Zanini collected all his notions and inspirations from his cinematic favourites, imprinting them on 50's style outfits, next season's huge trend.

Using luxurious and feminine materials like silk organza, duchess silk, italian wool, lurex and velours au sabre developed with Bucol, an ancient technique of hand "destroying" razoring, , Zanini managed to create a unique collection, with the best result for a glam House like Rochas.

The collection consists of fine pencil skirts, loose sweaters and coats and gorgeous coctail or evening full-skirt dresses in fifties Hollywood style with pastel hues of lemon and kiwi, all styled with extravagant cat-eye sunglasses, scarves on hair, sky-high mules, sling-backs, platforms and mini bags creating that crazy, colourful noise we love.

Daniel Silver for Acne collection lookbook is finally out. His exclusive designs are printed on fine garments with raw materials like painted leather in a neo-classical style. This special capsule collection is characterized by bold prints and colour combinations becoming a re-interpretation of classical forms in a contemporary manner and finally, a real piece of art. It will be launched on October 11th 2011 at Acne in Dover Street in London, along with an exclusive video.

Katie Eary's S/S 2012 collection is inspired by Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, with extravagant glam-decayed pieces for girls and boys. The designer is also collaborating with Kanye West on his womenswear line, soon to be shown during Paris Fashion Week. You can have a look at the designer's new collection fashion film below.

Artist and designer Aoi Kotsuhiroi has already been featured in my pages in the past and i don't think i'll stop doing so. I have to admit that i'm obsessed with her amazing creations, her body objects, as she prefers naming them. Standing out of all mainstream fashion trends, Aoi creates not just objects, but a whole new dimension in what we call contemporary style, using fetish elements with elegance and in the most artistic way. Aoi's new series is called All Sorts of Rains and it's the fourth chapter of her Exotic Regrets collection, including a pair of sky-high wooden sandals and a leather jacket.

This time, i'm very happy to host Aoi's interview and i'm sure you'll be a bit surprised, as this talented woman preferred to answer in a poetic way, just like her poetic way of designing.

Enjoy this unique diy project and don't miss to visit Aoi's updated website for more:

All your collections have poetic titles. What’s the meaning of All the Sorts of Rains?

All sorts of rains gathered together.
The sky, wet of colors,
revealed the silence before the storm.
The pending time was searching
for a cry to open the horizon.

Which kind of woman do you have in mind when designing?

She was crying a sort of memory,
few silent tears
slipped into the forgetting.
She had seen the wolves,
and wanted to join them.

If you had to design for a famous person, who would you like it to be and why?

She refused to tell her name.
Her face hidden by a sort of mask,
didn't say anything about her.
She preferred.

Your amazing shoes look a lot like torture ones and obviously fetish-inspired.  What is fetish meaning to you?

Touching the sensitive body in that day,
attached as a caress,
designed by a desire,
when the sweetness that underlines without moving,
this breathing of the rites of the soul.
I know now,
the shadows of abandonment and the deep rain.

Do you think about designing any full clothing collections in the future?

Dressed for the night,
dancing for the moon,
there were silhouettes who ran in the dark,
each of them worn a reflection of something.
How to know more ...

Tell me about any of your upcoming projects.

A spider web to hold the dreams.
A parasol to watch the shadow sleeping.
A river of dust to see the time disappear.
Watch the night growing.
Walking in silence.
