Twelve Calendar

Berlin Fashion Week is starting today, so i suppose we are all anticipating for the great avant-garde capital city to reveal its new gems for next winter. One of the week's hottest projects is the Twelve Calendar, a collaboration between Derzeit Magazine and photographer Lena Emery, showcasing 12 of the best new models and labels from Berlin.

Born Sleepy by J.W. Anderson

J.W. Anderson's menswear collection for next fall is called Born Sleepy, and has big retro vibe with amazing knits, graphic prints, flared pants made out of tech materials and a bright colour palette. I just love the brand's spooky, ironic campaign, shot by Alex Sainsbury, featuring model Oliver Greenall from Elite London.

Milan's Men Fashion Week is ending today. Have a look at its coolest boys posing for Luca Finotti's camera during the castings.

The Empire of Death

For three years Dr Paul Koudounaris, a specialist in Baroque culture and lector at major universities in Los Angeles, travelled the world to document various religious shrines decorated with human bones, crypts and remains from the sixteenth and seventienth centuries.

A great track for all the party-goers out there by 502 Recordings artist TEETH, with the best video of the season.

The deep friendship and collaboration of the two designers started in 1981 with the Memphis collective that brought groundbreaking impact into the design world, mixing two different elements: Kuramata’s Japanese aesthetics and Sottsass’ Western European ideology. The visitors are able to enjoy 65 pieces of Kuramata’s work after 1980 and 20 never-seen-before art pieces Kachina from Ettore Sottsass drawings created in his final years.

Japanese brand Yuge is featuring a simple, but wearable and feminine style for the upcoming season. Although the collection is quite small it consists of some really strong overalls, dresses with long or short hemline, pants and a couple of cool jackets. As for the colours, black and grey are a beautiful base for all the purples, blues and big patterns that are popping out.

Daria Endresen is a young photographer, model and digital artist from Oslo, Norway. Her images, mostly autoportraits, are true little diamonds, a fresh new suggestion on digital art, with great photoshop techniques, neutral light and cyber-like, imaginary concept.

There is not much info about Daria’s bio, as she prefers to speak only through her work. When I asked her to tell me a few things about herself or her inspirations, she answered with this beautiful quote from the Antichrist movie:
“Oaktrees grow to be hundreds of years old. They only have to produce one single tree every hundred years in order to procreate…The acorns fell on the roof then too…they kept falling and falling… and dying and dying.. And I understood that everything that used to be beautiful about Eden was perhaps hideous…Now I could hear what I couldn’t hear before – the cry of all the things that are to die.”

Although summer is quickly approaching, i could not resist posting this awsome video with such a winter concept. Snow, cold and amazing snowqueens.
