Twelve Calendar

Berlin Fashion Week is starting today, so i suppose we are all anticipating for the great avant-garde capital city to reveal its new gems for next winter. One of the week's hottest projects is the Twelve Calendar, a collaboration between Derzeit Magazine and photographer Lena Emery, showcasing 12 of the best new models and labels from Berlin.

Born Sleepy by J.W. Anderson

J.W. Anderson's menswear collection for next fall is called Born Sleepy, and has big retro vibe with amazing knits, graphic prints, flared pants made out of tech materials and a bright colour palette. I just love the brand's spooky, ironic campaign, shot by Alex Sainsbury, featuring model Oliver Greenall from Elite London.

The Empire of Death

Prada's 2011 Christmas Windows are titled Caveau dy Temps and are inspired by period jewel boxes and aristocratic palaces. Precious velvet, wood and glass are the main elements in the windows hosting the brand's new Resort 2012 collection featuring jewel cases of nonpareil beauty and style. The festive season is just starting.

Barbies Last Sleepover - Lavonnesbarbies

Barbie has been adored more than any other icon or fashion persona in the world, however her alterations are those that really intrigue us. Her perfection, sweetness and  good-girl manners have been frequently changed to bitchyness, kinky behaviour and criminal tendencies. After Mariel Clayton’s serial-killer Barbies, here is another project that will make you even more fascinated about the famous blonde: Altered Barbie Exhibition in San Francisco gathers thousands of Barbie lovers with submissions of some of the best artists specializing in extravagant doll transformations. The 9th annual exhibition was held during November titled In Barbie's Name, What would Barbie do? And Ken too?, with several really interesting artworks dealing with Barbie's impact on our society as an icon and marketing toy.

Kirsten Dunst is the gorgeous cover girl of the new VMagazine issue, shot among the skyscrapers of New York City. Have a look at the video below and get why she makes all It girls suck.

Enjoy:

Famous photographer, artist and artist persona Ali Mahdavi is the art director of the current Crazy Horse show, the legendary parisian event rarely to be missed by the city's devoted visitors. Working closely along Philippe Decoufle, Mahdavi managed to create one of the most spectacular performances worldwide, always approaching Alain Bernandin's vision about the best show on earth: really high heels, dark red lipstick, vamp attitude and the most desirable place one wishing to be. The show is called Desirs and it's a triumph to the empowered woman. If you visit Paris, just don't miss it.

The new Kenzo video campaign is directed by artist Jo Ratcliffe and is a true masterpiece of mixed-media with funky modern animation, great music and really beautiful colours. You'll love it.

Enjoy:

Thomas Wakeford and Raphael Castelmezzano are the designer duo behind English fashion label Thomas Wakeford. Critics already calle them as mavericks, a rather honorific expression in the fashion world, meaning that their work is really exceptional. Vogue Italia described their S/S 2012 collection as "a chaotic crash of exotic blood and psychedelic cyber travels", probably because it has a lot of different messages to send. The collection is inspired by 90's acid house football culture and Beetlejuice, so bright vivid colours like turqoise, orange and yellow blend gracefully with the bold geometric pieces and structured patterns, while the frayed hemlines of the garments incline a beautiful decay. Black, white and metallics equilibrate the colour palette and the whole collection gets more drama with the addition of the retro-feeling hats, the oversized bags and the chunky heels.
I think it's one of the more inspiring collections of the new season. London rules.

After his recent gorgeous backstage video for A.F. Vandevorst, Tim Lebacq presents his new project, this time for Walter Van Beirendonck's Dream the World Awake exhibition at Momu in Antwerp, one of the hottest exhibitions of this season in Europe. Based on Lebacq's personal impressions, this film is the best presentation could ever be done for such a big fashion and art event. I never thought that a short piece could describe an exhibition so vividly. This guy is a magician.

Enjoy & don't forget to play it loud:
